Wilma R. Sanks

MADISON - Wilma R. Sanks, 88, longtime Madison resident, died Nov. 13, 2008. Daughter of Lee and Sarah Rains, Wilma was born April 21, 1920 in West Frankfort, IL. She and Robert R. Sanks were married Aug. 12, 1943. Wilma worked in financial aid for Edgewood College, Mount Mary College (Milwaukee) and MATC. She was also an active member of PEO and Community Of Hope UCC Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Sandfort. She is survived by two children: Barbara (Richard) Sherman of League City, TX and David Sanks of Madison; five grandchildren: Laurie (George) Kissamis, Scott (Susie) and Michael Wangen, Caleb and Kelly Sandfort and their father, Joseph Sandfort, Zoanne, Christopher and Schyler Sanks and their mother, Susan Scholfield; two great-grandchildren: Hannah and Alex Kissamis; and two siblings, Joanne (Peter) Modino of Frankfort, IL, and Dan Rains of San Antonio, TX. A memorial service will be held at the COMMUNITY OF HOPE UCC CHURCH 7118 Old Sauk Rd., Madison on Sat. Dec. 6, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Wilma Sanks Memorial Fund, c/o the UCC.
