MADISON William John Skinner, age 62, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 at Badger Prairie Health Care Center in Verona, following an extended illness. He was born in Madison on Sept. 15, 1953, the son of Raymond and Elizabeth (Meyer) Skinner. Following graduation from Madison West High School, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, when work was hard to find, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged due to a medical disability. He loved playing his guitar and spending time with other disabled veterans. Bill is survived by two brothers, Steve (Luann) and Brian Skinner; nieces, Sandi (Lucas) Craig and Jessica (Jason) Skinner-Groves; a nephew, Joshua Skinner; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother, Robert. Graveside services with military honors will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, 2705 Regent St., Madison on Thursday, May 12, 2016 beginning at 10:30 a.m. The family would like to thank all the community support staff that helped Bill over the years, especially Judi Green and Lorrie Hylkema.
