William I. Moan

MADISON – William I. Moan, age 69, a long-time resident of Madison, Wis., passed away at home on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Dec. 7, 1950, in Elgin, Ill., the son of Irvin and LaVon (Hoffman) Moan, and grew-up in Rockford, Ill. Bill was a master of all trades. He was skilled as a contractor, electrician, and truck driver. His love of automobiles included drag racing and participating in car shows. Bill was an avid golfer and sports fan. He was frequently seen at Door Creek Golf Course with his buddies. On occasion, Bill would allow his wife to play. Bill was always there to help and was loved by everyone. Bill was friends with people from all walks of life and everywhere he went, Bill appeared to know someone. Bill left an honest lasting impression on everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his father, Irvin Moan; his son, Allan Moan; and his mother-in-law, Wilma E. Phelps. Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Phelps-Moan; his mother, LaVon Moan; brother, Gene Moan; sisters, Wanda Lake, Beverly Green, Mary Shuga-Hadle (Rick), and Jeanie Meyers; step-son, Jason Phelps (Angela); father-in-law, William Phelps; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Comeau (Alan), Jeanne Jennings (Jon); brothers-in-law, David Phelps (Lori) and Daniel Phelps (Sarah); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; close friends, Mike and Lisa Aders and Tammy Smith (Mark). A special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare, especially, Keri, Megan, and Nikki. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at COUNTRY CORNERS, 3737 County Hwy AB, McFarland.
