William H. Plantz

DEERFIELD - William H. Plantz passed away at the age of 100 on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at his home following a short illness. William was born in the town of Medina on Oct. 18, 1912, on the family farm where he has lived all of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Vivadell Plantz; his parents, William Plantz and Bessy (Halverson) Plantz; and two sisters, Mabel Stark and Lyla Meyer. On Aug. 22, 1942, he married Vivadell Whiting of Lake Mills and they farmed together in the towns of Medina and Deerfield. They also built and operated a general store on their property for seven years. He is survived by a daughter Judy (Dale) Boetzel of Deerfield; grandchildren, Todd (Tammy) Boetzel of Deerfield and Randy (Livi) Boetzel of Hungary; a special nephew, Don Hale of Marshall; plus nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A gathering with luncheon to remember Bill will be held at the COTTAGE GROVE TOWN HALL, 4058 County Highway N, Cottage Grove on Saturday, March 23, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Agrace HospiceCare for all of their help the past three weeks.
