Wesley R Lausted

MONONA - Wesley Robert Lausted passed away at home on July 2, 2017, after a short but courageous fight with cancer. He was born on Aug. 2, 1930, in Menomonie, Wis., to Edward and A. Cornelia Lausted. After graduating as valedictorian from Colfax High School, Wes attended UW-Madison. He married Dolores Brown on Nov. 20, 1954. Wes retired from Nabisco after 29 years and went on to work for Land O'Lakes/Crystal Farms for nine years. He was a long-time volunteer at Habitat ReStore. He was a big fan of the Badgers, the Brewers, and the Packers. Wes had a passion for music, winning awards for his singing as a youth and, after moving to Madison, played in the National Guard Band. He loved attending live music performances and musicals, enjoyed bowling, and was a long time listener of NPR. He was a member of Monona United Methodist Church and, for many years, played in the bell choir. Wes is survived by his wife, Dolores; son, Robert and his wife, Jewel; son, Arnold; daughter, Susan Saunders Jessett, her husband, Phil, and daughters, Lisa Ahuja (Salil), Stacey Saunders (fiance Chris Kane); daughter, Deborah Manowske, her husband, Rick, their children, Seth Perlman, Rachel Perlman Vargas (Victor), Tony Manowske (Tanya), Kristina Rentmeister (David), Maureen Coyle (Danny), and grandchildren, Diego, Catalina, Nicholas, Jackson, Murphy, and Calleigh; sister-in-law, Dorothy Koch; niece, nephews, cousins, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edward, and sister-in-law, Viola Lausted; and brother-in-law, James Koch. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Rd., Monona, with Pastor Brad Von Fossen officiating.
