MADISON – Viviana Rosario Tellez-Girón, age 33 of Madison, died tragically on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, a victim of domestic violence. She was born Dec. 12, 1974 in Tlapacoyan, Veracruz, Mexico, beloved daughter of Maria Dolores Reyes Herrera. Viviana moved to Madison in 1999 where she dedicated her life to her family and her community. She was an accredited family child care provider for several years in the Madison area. The Madison community was proud to have her as the bilingual family child care consultant for Satellite Family Child Care. She also provided child care services for UNIDOS against Domestic Violence, Parent Information Exchange, ESL classes at Vera Court and Centro Guadalupe. Viviana was a hard worker, often working several jobs at once to support her family, including at SAMS Club, domestic services, and transporting children to activities. She volunteered her time as a committed advocate against domestic violence for UNIDOS; cancer prevention and women’s health issues through several agencies; early literacy education through Launching into Literacy; job training through Vera Court; and her faith through her church. She is survived by her mother, Maria Dolores Reyes Herrera, of Mexico; three sons, Miguel Armando, Alan, and Salvador; maternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be held at the LIGHTHOUSE CHURCH, 5202 Regent St., corner of Whitney Way and Regent St., on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008 at 7 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established through Lighthouse Church. Burial will take place at a later date at Panteon de Dolores, Tlapacoyan, Veracruz, Mexico. UNIDOS is hosting a candlelight vigil against domestic violence in her honor, on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at the MADISON LABOR TEMPLE, 1602 S. Park St. All are welcome to participate. Viviana will be fondly remembered as an optimistic, passionate and generous person who always helped others in need. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her community. “Bless the Lord, all my soul; and all that is within me, bless his Holy name.”
