MADISON - Virgil Everett Zantow, age 77, passed away Monday, December 31, 2007 at St. Marys Hospital, in Madison. He was born November 18, 1930 in Baraboo, WI the son of William and Ruth (Searls) Zantow. Virgil attended Baraboo High School. He served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955 during the Korean War. He married Barbara Mctier on January 2, 1954 in Endeavor, Wisconsin. He worked for FC Raemisch and Sons as a heavy equipment operator for over forty years. Virgil is survived by his wife Barbara Zantow, of Madison; children, Elizabeth (Michael) Cunningham, of Waunakee, Daniel (Tammy) Zantow, of Oregon, Kelly Droster, of Cottage Grove, Todd (Kelly Witt) Zantow, of Portage; three brothers, Rodney Zantow, of Baraboo, Duane (Eileen) Zantow, of Janesville, Diehl (JoAnn) Zantow, of Janesville; a sister, Carol (Clarence) Christianson, of Reedsburg; a sister-in-law Phyllis Zantow, of Kenosha; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, a brother, Merle; and a son, Gerald T. Zantow. Funeral services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK MAUSOLEUM CHAPEL, 401 Femrite Drive, on Friday, Jan. 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the chapel on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in memory of Virgil. Virgil’s family wishes to thank Dr. Serloff and Dr. Fields along with the staff in the I.C.U. department at St. Mary’s Hospital, Ryan Brothers Ambulance Service, Robert Wantenpuhl, and Kelly Witt for their special care and going above and beyond what was expected.
