Viola M. Bartz

August 6, 1926 - April 4, 2008 Viola M. "Vi" Bartz, 81, of Janesville, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2008, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by her family. Vi was born August 6, 1926, in Orfordville, the daughter of Sophie E. (LaDell) and Oscar J. Olson. She married Wally Bartz on December 14, 1974. Vi worked at Fisher Body and as a waitress and bartender. She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Janesville and past chairman of the March of Dimes in Mundelein, IL. Vi was an avid gardener, with a passion for roses. She also loved fishing and once caught a trophy bass near Hayward, WI. Vi is survived by her children: Terry (Sue) Hesgard, Linda Brink, Rick (Wendy) Hesgard, and Debbie (Howie) Olson; her grandchildren: Jackie (Vince) Treinen, Jeff (Barb) Brink, Brad (Samantha) Hesgard, Amy (Derek) Wunder, Chris (fiance Kelly) Hesgard, Emily Olson and Lauren Olson. Vi was also the proud great-grandmother of 14. Vi was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Wally. Visitation will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME, 1618 E. Racine Street in Janesville, from 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday and again from 1 until 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m., at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Paul Garchow officiating. Burial will be in Orfordville Lutheran Cemetery. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Mercy Hospital, especially Beth, Liz, Shelby and Patty. Mom was a survivor, having overcome breast and lung cancer. We all admired her strength and courage, and she will be deeply missed by all of her family. We support her journey to the heavens above.
