Victor L. Jackson, Jr.

February 10, 1938 — December 16, 2018

MIDDLETON - Victor L. Jackson, Jr., age 80, of Middleton, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Heartland Country Village in Black Earth, Wis. He was born on Feb. 10, 1938 in Oak Hill, Ohio, the son of Victor L. Jackson Sr. and Goldie Mae Henry. Victor worked as an airline mechanic, a frozen foods manager for a large grocery retailer, and many years before retirement as a welder. He enjoyed tinkering on old cars, fishing, watching basketball and anything to do with dogs. Victor was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rodger L. Jackson; son-in-law, Carl Edward Kennedy, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Barbara Jackson. He is survived by his brother, Charles W. Jackson; two nieces and a nephew; his daughter, Vicki Kennedy; his son, James (Tammy) Jackson; his former wife, Kathy Jackson; four loving grandchildren, Edward, Katee, Ben and Cameron; and six beautiful great grandchildren. On behalf of the family, a message from his son, James: As much as we knew the end was near, there is truly no way to prepare. We are eternally grateful for all the love and support from family and friends. After a couple difficult hospital stays, his wish was to be at his home at Heartland Country Village. Dad adored the extraordinary staff there whose love and tenderness poured over him these last two years. As difficult as the last few months have been, especially his final moments, I am forever grateful to have been by his side, holding his hand as he left this world to be with God. I’m confident he is smiling again, reunited with my brother Rodger, brother-in-law Ed and all the family and friends that passed before him. Dad has always been known for his goofy, dry sense of humor and his giant hands. As I’ve sat with him reflecting the last few weeks, one thing that stood out is how he would shake everyone’s hand the moment he saw them and before they left. Whether he hadn’t seen them in 10 years or 10 minutes. What once was seemed like a quirk now seems like one of the most powerful gifts he gave me. He shook my hand so many times to make it certain I have a vivid memory, now that he’s left this earth, of his big hand, swallowing mine up in strength, confidence, kindness and comfort. His final words to me were, “Thank you.” No Dad, Thank you. Rest in peace The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Agrace Hospice and to the outstanding staff at Heartland Country Village for their love, kindness, patience and exceptional care given the last two years.
