McFarland - Verlene Lois Hendrix, age 51, passed away Monday, August 7, 2006 at her parents house, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 13, 1954 in Madison, the daughter of Donald and Rose (Goebel) Lawler. Verlene graduated from Madison LaFollete High School in 1972 and attended Madison Area Technical College. She married Harley Hendrix on September 22, 1973 in Madison. She worked for several years for the City Health Department before she became ill. She loved all sorts of music, including an extensive music collection. She also enjoyed going to concerts, photography, sewing, crafting, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Verlene is survived by two sons, Jesse Hendrix and Chase Hendrix, (special friend Jenny), all of McFarland; her parents, Donald and Rose Lawler, Madison; a brother, Dale Lawler, Madison; former husband, Harley Hendrix, Madison. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. A Celebration of Verlene’s life will be held at the MCFARLAND AMERICAN LEGION HALL, 4911 Burma Road, on Sunday, August 27, 2006 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Private family burial was held in Highland Memory Gardens, Madison. The family would like to thank Verlene’s co-workers and friends for all the cards, phone calls, visits and support throughout her illness. A special thanks to Hospice, Dr. Diggs, and the nursing staff at the Dean Clinic on Fish Hatchery for the excellent care they gave to Verlene.
