Velva "Dolly" Ann Kippert

MADISON – Velva Ann “Dolly” Kippert, beloved wife of Roy Kippert, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 after 90 years of an exemplary and eventful life. She is survived by her three sons, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Jack, Tom and Jim Kippert will remember her as a loving and caring mother who enthusiastically guided and followed their lives. She was an avid Badger sports fan and season ticket holder for over 50 years. She never missed an opportunity to tell all who listened that there was just no place on earth as wonderful as Madison. Growing up in Niagara, Wis., she enthusiastically engaged in many sports and especially loved swimming and softball. She met and married her husband Roy, who at that time was a civil engineer leading a road survey crew. Early in their marriage, Roy and Dolly moved to Madison where they owned and operated a family construction company for many years. They both excelled at league bowling and traveled to all parts of the country to cheer on their beloved Badgers, till Roy’s death in 1973. As a mother, Dolly lived and enforced the eternal lessons of life: love your family, discipline, truth and that it’s never over till it’s over. She delivered wisdom in just the right portions with humor and love. Whenever her three sons got into trouble, Dolly always made sure they found their own way out with apologies and compensation. Her four surviving sisters – Joyce, Ruth, Helen and Rita will miss Dolly’s positive, upbeat and nurturing personality. Velva Ann “Dolly” Kippert will very much be missed by her family and friends. Dolly’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Mary’s Care Center for the personalized and highly competent care she received in the last years of her life. To Dr. Chuck Diggs and his wife Angie, thank you for befriending Dolly and helping her through some very challenging times. To Kathy Kippert and her brothers Mike and David, thanks for the many times you willingly sacrificed to assist “Grandma Dolly” in any way you could. And to Jack and Vivian, you were always there for our mom and for that we are eternally grateful. A memorial mass will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE, 401 S. Owen Dr., on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Kenneth Fiedler officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
