Timothy A. Thorland

MADISON - Timothy Alan Thorland, age 58, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018. He was born on Sept. 3, 1959, in Madison. He was the son of Gordon F. Thorland and Shirley L (Cook) Thorland. He married Susan Pahmeier on April 9, 1983. They were parents to a son, Andrew. Tim grew up in Sun Prairie, and graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1977. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Madison Area Technical College, studying accounting. Tim started working for the State of Wisconsin-Department of Revenue in 1985 and retired in 2014. Tim was a true sports fan. He had a passion for bowling and started at a very young age. He enjoyed many years participating in various mens bowling leagues in Sun Prairie and Madison and eventually got at least two perfect 300 games! He also enjoyed all the Badgers sports teams, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and his personal favorite, Philadelphia Phillies. He looked forward to the Annual Golf Outings and the retirement luncheons with his co-workers from the Department of Revenue. Tim also loved traveling and enjoyed numerous road trips with his family all over the United States and Canada. Survivors include his wife, Susan Thorland of Madison; brothers, Thomas Thorland, Evansville, Wis., Troy (Donna) Thorland, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Todd Thorland, of St. Augustine, Fla.; sisters, Sally (Manny) Koslin, of Freehold, N.J., and Sharon (Joe) Kalscheuer, Sauk City, Wis.; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Christopher Thorland; a brother, Ted Thorland; and parents, Gordon and Shirley Thorland. A gathering of family and friends is planned for Wednesday April 11, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at THE EAST SIDE CLUB, 3735 Monona Drive, Madison.
