Thomas P. Friedrichs

JANESVILLE Thomas P. Fred Friedrichs, age 70, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville. He was born in Queens, New York, on June 23, 1947, the son of Werner and Madeline (Leone) Friedrichs. Following his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. Fred, as he was known, was proud of his military service and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer after 20 years in the Army. Following his retirement from the military, Fred joined the Virginia Beach Sheriffs Department and later enjoyed working for Voda Farms hauling corn. He married Kimberly Haugland on March 25, 1978, in Fort Story, Virginia. Fred enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Fred is survived by his wife, Kim; children, Toby (Sandy) Friedrichs, Kim Chi Friedrichs, Heather (Scott) Goodger and John (Lindsay) Friedrichs; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Katherine, Thomas, Emily, Samantha, Tyler, Addison and Quinton; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vicky Friedrichs; and a niece, Meaghan Pickle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Werner Friedrichs and Madeline (Rocco) Perrone; a daughter, Donna; a son, Thomas; a brother and a sister. A memorial gathering will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME, 1618 E.
