Thomas J. Menard

Thomas J. Menard, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born May 12, 1924 in Eau Claire, WI to Edward and Olga (nee Erickson) Menard and lived on the Menard home farm his whole life. Tom attended Chippewa Falls schools graduating from Chi-Hi in 1941. He then married the former Arvilla Weber on October 10, 1945. To this union was born their five children. They later divorced. On November 7, 1970, he married the former Arlene Haas. He farmed for many years in Wheaton and then went to work for Armour of Eau Claire for 18 years until his retirement in 1983. He was an avid fisherman who loved his cat Squeaky, animals, his garden, cutting wood, the Green Bay Packers, and being with his children and grandchildren. Those who knew Tom will remember him as a kind, gentle man who could always be counted on when needed. Survivors included his wife, Arlene Menard of the Town of Wheaton, Chippewa Co., WI ; five children: Thomas (Diane) Menard of Eau Claire, WI, Delores Wickham of Eau Claire, WI, Debra (Andy) Skelton of Hallie, WI, James (Patricia) Menard of Eau Claire, WI & Ronald (June) Menard of Eau Claire, WI; eleven grandhildren: Jenny (Jason) Quisberg, Joel (Megan) Menard, Laura (Finace' Matt Schubel) Menard, Matthew (Lindsay) Wickham, Mark Wickham, Andrew (fiance' Emily Hopkins) Skelton, Jody (Adam) Kautza, James Menard, Brian (Renee) Menard, Lindsay Menard, and Anthony Menard ; one great-grandchild, Joshua Menard.; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Menard of Eau Claire, WI. Further survived by other relatives and friends. He is preceded by his parents, three brothers; John, Lawrence, and Edward. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 15, 2007 at 11:30 AM at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 14th at Plombon's All Faiths Funeral & Cremation Service, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54703 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 PM. There will also be one hour of visitation on Monday, at the church from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
