MADISON – Thomas A. Johnson, age 57, passed away on Wed., Aug. 13, 2008 at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. Tom was born in Racine, to Norman and Mary (Olson) Johnson, on April 18, 1951. At age 5, he moved with his family to Madison where Tom grew up enjoying hunting, fishing and many sports. He graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1969. In June of 1970, Tom had a serious motorcycle accident that left him partially paralyzed and changed his life. Despite his disability, Tom continued to enjoy hunting, fishing and spectator sports. He loved cars and being behind the wheel. He started his career as a truck driver and later worked at Lettercraft Press for 25 years as a salesman and manager. Survivors include his mother and father; his two children, Jeffery and Samantha; his brother John and his wife Connie and their two daughters, Hannah and Heidi, of Elkhorn; and a sister, Becky of Corvallis, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 326 S. Segoe Rd., on Sat., August 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lin Grace Rohr officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to HospiceCare, Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711, or to a charity of one’s choice.
