Stephen W. Watson

MADISON - Stephen W Watson, age 66, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. He was born on July 19, 1947 in Washington D.C. to the late D. Stanley Watson and Lois D. Licht. Stephen graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where he had met Lynn. He married Lynn aka Marilyn G. Watson nee: Baeten on February 28, 1974. Forty years later (and 80 six month increments), they were still in love. Stephen is survived by his wife, Lynn; mother, Lois D. Licht; his brother, David (Carol) Watson; half-brother Nicholas Watson; step-brother, James Licht; step-sisters, Carol Davy and Nancy Licht; father and mother-in-law, Don and Florence Baeten; brother-in-law, David (Mary Jane) Baeten; sisters-in-law, Charlotte (John) Hager, Sandra (Paul) Kurowski, and Jennifer (Chad) Hendricks. Even cancer couldnt destroy his indomitable spirit, grace and dignity. He was a Renaissance man who loved knowing things for the sheer joy of it. Stephen was a proud husband, freeholder, and U.S. Army veteran. He served during the Vietnam War but was stationed in Korea. He always said he had a good war. He loved Korea and watching the rice grow. He was also a proud, proud business owner, sales person and retiree. He loved so many things: family and friends, reading, cooking, growing his Heirloom and Roma tomatoes, grilling with the baby Weber, canning, swimming, captaining the pontoon boat on Silver Lake, and traveling the back roads. He will be dearly missed, but as he said, he had a good run. There will be a private memorial service at Agrace Hospice celebrating the incredible man that was Stephen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Agrace Hospice in Madison. All the staff at Agrace has our heartfelt appreciation for their compassionate care.
