MARSHALL – Stanley C. Otto, age 86, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He was born on Oct. 15, 1921 in the Township of Arlington, the son of Stanley C and Fern (Pierce) Otto. Stanley attended Lodi High School, where he won the boxing championship of his school. He also attended the University of Wisconsin, where he lettered in football his freshman year. His love of farming started while he was active in the FFA at Lodi High School. Stan also loved fishing and hunting. It was during a hunting trip to Northern Wisconsin when he met his future wife, Gladys Ackley. They had been married just short of 58 years and had five children. Together they farmed until retirement. Dad enjoyed his Nash Rambler cars and Minneapolis Moline tractors. He spent his spare time pulling on his tug-of-war team, tractor pulls, of which he won many trophies, and fishing trips with his wife, children, grandchildren and nephews. Stan also had a lifelong love of photography, and was always willing to help anyone. Stanley is survived by his wife, Gladys; children, Darlene (Gary) Cloutier, of Sun Prairie, Stan S. Otto, of Madison, Nancy (Jim) Knuteson, of Beaver Dam, and Janis Stephens, of Sheboygan; grandchildren, Ramie (Rebecca) Ramsden, Cory Cloutier, Brad Otto, Lisa Otto, Michelle (Javier) Aguilera, Tyler Knuteson, Racheal Budde, Lori Benson, Randy Wahl; special great grandson, Joey Morton; brothers, William (Margaret) Otto and Robert Otto, and fishing friend, Gene Weier. He was preceded in death by his son, Karl, his parents, and brothers, Marlin, Gerald, Donald and Richard. We are so grateful to family and friends who throughout the years, shared their care, kindness and laughter. A special thanks to Care Wisconsin Staff & Team of Madison, especially, Pat Lohr, Kathy Williamson, Heather Muntean and Linda Barker; HospiceCare, Maria Johnson and Chaplain John McCarthy. A celebration of Stanley’s life will be held at a later date.
