Berlin, Shirley A., age 76 of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, with family by her side. Shirley was born August 20, 1931 to George and Julia (nee Hart) Scheuermann in the town of Clear Creek, Eau Claire County, WI, one of 11 children. On September 8, 1956, she married Cecil A. Berlin at Holy Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Brackett. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2006. She attended Allen Elementary School and graduated from St. Patrick High School in Eau Claire in 1950 with four years of perfect attendance. After high school, Shirley worked at the Eau Claire County Veterans Service Office. In early 1970, she became the Clear Creek Township Treasurer until moving to Eau Claire in 1977. She then worked part time for the Veterans Office until her retirement. Memberships include the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 550 of Brackett and the 40/8 Cabane of Eau Claire County Voiture 525. Shirley enjoyed life with family and friends. She loved music and played the accordion for many dances over the years. Survivors include her husband, Cecil of Eau Claire; four children: Rita (Greg) Pecha and Duane (Jean) Berlin both of Eau Claire, Kay (Jeff Hayes) Berlin of St. Charles, IL and Dean (Amy) Berlin of Rock Falls, WI; 14 grandchildren: Reed (Fiancé Claudia), Tessa, Nicholas, Dominic, Aubry, Keegan, Jordan, Kyle, Nathan, Chelsie, Kaylie, Leslie, Melodie and Augustine; two sisters: Josephine Mattson and Gloria Johnson; two brothers: Al (Germaine) and Dennis (Luanne) Scheuermann; a sister-in-law: Jeanette Scheuermann; two brothers-in-law: Marshall Horlacher and Jim (Dorothy) Mehls; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters: Delores Meinholz, Lucille Horlacher, Jeanette Mehls and Annabelle Planert; two brothers: Lloyd and Charles Scheuermann; a sister-in-law: Ruby Scheuermann; and four brothers-in-law: Paul Mattson, Peter Meinholz, Jerry Johnson and Bill Planert. Shirley was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1722 Highland Ave., Eau Claire, with Fr. Eugene Klink officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Guardian Angel Cemetery near Brackett. Friends may call on Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Plombon’s All Faiths Funeral & Cremation Service, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire where there will be a Parish Vigil Service beginning at 6:30 PM followed by an American Legion Auxiliary Memorial Honor. Further visitation will be on Monday, at the church, from 12:00 Noon until the time of services. Condolences may be made care of the funeral home or online at 866allfaiths.com.
