Shirlee G Vogel-Homan

Afton- Shirlee G Vogel-Homan, age 71, departed this earth on January 26, 2009 after a year long battle with cancer. She was born December 23, 1937 the daughter of Melvin and Grace (Finger) Metteer, in Comfrey, MN. A Janesville resident since 1957, she was employed in restaurants and real estate before becoming an employment specialist for the state of Wisconsin Rock County Job Center. She always believed doing it right the first time was the key to success. Shirlee will be fondly remembered for her true love of her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with them, telling stories of her past and sharing her great cheesecakes. She indeed touched the lives of many. She is survived by Leo Vogel (father of her children), three daughters, Cheryl (Nick #1 son-in-law) Schroeder, Julie Werdin (Terry Sheets), Kathi Vogel, one sister Hazel Luedke of Bentonville AR; three brothers Cliff, Darnell, and Bruce (Sharon) Metteer, of MN; seven grandchildren, Brent Vogel, Jennifer (Tony) Muth, Justin (Emily Walhovd) Schroeder, Kristina (Aaron) Janke, Robert Sutherland, Jason Sutherland, Jessica Schroeder and Monico Bernal, six great grandchildren, Miranda, Devon, Jayce, Jordyn, Eric, Jacob, Eric and Dylan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald (Jerry) Homan and one daughter Brenda Vogel-Sutherland. Your time with us on earth was taken away today. We Should not be sad, but happy you are no longer in pain. Now you are in the hands of the Lord and we shall meet again! Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Friday, January 30, 2009 at the All Faiths Funeral Home 1618 E. Racine St. Janesville.
