Sandra Lee Horne

September 9, 1952 — April 8, 2016

MADISON - On Friday, April 8, 2016, at the age of 63, Sandra Lee Horne went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She is no longer in pain. Sandra was born on September 9, 1952 in Madison, Wis., to Lendell and Hazel Horne. After graduating from La Follette High School, she worked for many years at the Department of Transportation. Leaving this job because of health issues was hard on Sandra, and she talked often about how much she loved the job and the people that she worked with. Sandra married Daniel Deneen and they had a son, Shawn. The marriage ended in divorce. She later married Jim Halvorson and that marriage also ended in divorce. Sharing her fond memories of Las Vegas, especially the Gold Coast Casino, was something Sandra loved to do. She had spent a lot of time there and always talked about wanting to return. A love for music was instilled in Sandra by the time she spent listening to her parents play in different bands. The Beatles were number one to her and she would be heard to say, Pauls so cute numerous times. She loved the oldies and spent hours listening to music. Her granddaughter Manami was one of her favorite topics to talk about. She loved her deeply and was so proud of her. Sandra raised her for many years and loved every minute of it. Her dog and cats were also a favorite topic to talk about. She missed them very much. A Celebration of Sandras Life party was held on March 5, 2016 at Artisan Assisted Living, where Sandra was residing. This party was her wish in lieu of a funeral. She wanted to spend time with her family and those she loved while she was alive to enjoy it. All her siblings and most of their spouses were in attendance, along with some friends and of course, Shawn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lendell and Hazel (Bruhn). Sandra is survived by her son, Shawn, and granddaughter Manami. She is further survived by her brother, Chuck (Connie) of Marion, Ohio; brother, Don (Barbara) of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; sister, Linda (Lin) Croxford of Laughlin, Nevada; brother, Jim (Joan) of Sauk City, Wisconsin; and Diane Horne of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by numerous other relatives. Sandra will be cremated and her ashes will be interred at a later date in her parents plot at Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison. The family wants to thank Leah Marshall, Kim Sauk, and Becky Buchda for all they did for Sandra. The love and care that they showed Sandra was a great comfort to those that loved her.
