BOSCOBEL/MADISON/EDGERTON - Sam Steele, age 72, passed away peacefully at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Janesville on March 22, 2018. Sam was raised in Boscobel, where he graduated from Boscobel High School in 1964. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Alice (Baumeister) Steele; his brothers, Billy (Beverly) Steele and Ronnie Steele; and his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Lois (Landberg) Thies. Sam is survived by his devoted wife, Barb (Thies); his children, Stacy L. Steele (Craig Selph), Samuel M. Steele, and Abigail A. (James) Randall; two grandchildren, Taylor and Brandon; one great-granddaughter, Callie; his sisters, Shirley (Bill) Boyd and Norma (Mike) Fordney; his sister-in-law, Karin Thies, and her daughter, Tami Thies; along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sam served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Forrestal and survived the disaster of July 29, 1967. Sam worked at Sub Zero Freezer Company for 43 years and was also a volunteer fireman for the Fitchburg Fire Department. Sam will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and his five feathered babies. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Janesville, whose staff were so devoted to Sam's comfort and care. A Celebration of Sam's Life will be held at TULLYS II, 6401 Monona Drive, Monona, Wis., on Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. Interment will be held at Boscobel Cemetery on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. All Faiths Funeral & Cremation Services Janesville (608)754-8700 www.866allfaiths.com
