Ryan Thomas Dutter died at UW-Madison Hospital on November 19, 2008. Ryan was born in Beloit on December 28, 1971. He graduated from OLA, Beloit Catholic and UW-Whitewater. He was presently working toward his Master's Degree in Special Education at UW-Whitewater. Having served as a Navy Corpsman attached to the 5th Marines in Desert Storm, he was especially proud of his military service, receiving numerous commendations. Ryan dearly loved his children, Kimberly and Kyle. He was very proud of Kimberly's academic achievements and her devotion to Kyle. Ryan's greatest accomplishment was the dedication of his life to better the life of his mentally handicapped son. Ryan left a successful career in banking to become Kyle's educational assistant at McLenegan Elementary School in Beloit. Ryan's devotion to Kyle and Kyle's love for Daddy was evident to all. Ryan is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Dutter, parents Rosemary and Hank Dutter, brothers Patrick (Tammy), Michael (Lori), Mark (Jessica) and Timothy, his uncles Mark and Patrick Rooney, Aunt Colleen Rooney, several nieces and nephews, and special friend Christine Gabron. The family requests no flowers. A memorial fund has been established at the Municipal Credit Union on Cranston Road in Beloit, with funds being donated to the research of Autism and the promotion of Ryan's Master's Thesis, “Retired Educators Teaching and Reaching Others” (RETRO). A memorial service to celebrate Ryan's life will be held at the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Beloit on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.
