Ronald Glenn Wernet

McFARLAND - Ronald Glenn Wernet, Ron, dad, grandpa, age 75, passed peacefully in his home on Saturday morning, Dec. 10, 2016, with family and friends by his side. Ron was born July 26, 1941, in Jackson, Michigan, son of Glenn Ralph Wernet and Anna Marie David. Ron's notable accomplishments include: service to our country as a Marine; careers as an entrepreneur, police officer, firefighter, and detective; public service as the Lieutenant Governor of the Auburn Kiwanis Club in Indiana; and as a member of the McFarland Public Works Committee. He will be remembered for his sense of humor; his contagious smile; and his love of fishing, dancing, bowling, coaching little league baseball, and occasionally sinking his fishing boat in a nearby lake. Survivors include his significant other, Joan Esser; brother, David Wernet; children, Kevin Wernet, Chad Scott, Scott (Shena) Scott, Eric (Renee) Miller, Brian (Janine) Miller, and Stacie McAfee; grandchildren, Phillip, Jennifer, Kevin Jr., Dakota, Suprina, Kenny, Noah, Cole, Natalie, Ethan, Cody, Cassidy, Mason, Maddox, and Beckett; and great-grandchildren Mallory and Bentley. A casual memorial gathering will be held at SPARTAN PIZZA, 5813 Main St., McFarland, on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., for family and friends.
