Ronald E. Gilbertson

Ronald E. Gilbertson, age 72, of Windsor, Wis., formerly of Cedarville, Ill., passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, Wis. He was born on May 29, 1938 in Argyle, Wis., the son of Norman and Esther Gilbertson. Ronald graduated from Monroe High School in 1956. Earned his Undergraduate Degree in 1969 from The University of Wisconsin, Platteville and a Master of Science in Education in 1976 from Northern Illinois University, Specializing in reading and language arts. He taught his first 4 years, grades 1-8 at Buckskin Country School near Monroe, Wis., 5th grade for 2 years at Evansville, Wis. Elementary, however, most of his teaching career was at Lena-Winslow Elementary where he taught 3rd grade for 7 years and subsequently 2nd grade for 17 years, and retired in 1993. Ronald is survived by his brothers, James (Sandra) Gilbertson, Deerfield, Wis., David (Lois) Gilbertson, Stoughton, Wis., and Dennis (special friend, Debra Peitz) Gilbertson, Windsor, Wis. and brother-in-law William Walters, Verona, Wis. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Geraldine Walters. Memorial Services at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, Wis. will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011. Family and friends are asked to come for a memorial gathering from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside services will be held in May with inurnment in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings would be appreciated. Thank you to the staff at Haack’s Tendercare in Sun Prairie, all the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital, UWHC Clinic and hospital, Dean Care and staff especially our sister-in-law, Dean Care nurse, Sandra Gilbertson. Also, The HospiceCare staff in Fitchburg, Wisconsin Dialysis Center staff and Social Workers, Capitol Express Transportation Services, Dane County Human Services Senior Support, staff and social workers, Ryan Brothers ambulance service and EMT’s. All of you did your part to care for Ron, and it is appreciated.
