MARSHALL Rollin R. Rollie Dahl, age 59, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg following a brief illness. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to so many. Rollie was born in Madison on March 30, 1955, the son of Raymond L. and Dolores R. (Latsch) Dahl. Following graduation from Marshall High School, Rollie served four years in the U.S. Air Force in North Dakota and Germany. He worked for the Marshall Police Dept. and Dane County Traffic Dept. before serving 29 years as a deputy with the Dane County Sheriffs Dept. He retired from the Sheriffs Dept. for a year before working as an Investigator with the Dane County Medical Examiners office. Rollie served on the Marshall School Board from 1990 1999 as also volunteered on the Marshall Fire Dept. for several years. The true joys of his life were being able to help his brother Russ and his dad on the farm, as well as watching his kids and grandkids play sports. Any sports!!! Rollie is survived by his father, Ray Dahl; wife of 40 years, Penny; children, Deanna (Travis) Chadwick, Robb (Muranda) Dahl and Kristine (Chris) Quam; grandchildren, Samira Arvin, Justin Chadwick, Tyler Chadwick, Aleesa Dahl, Zara Quam, Grant Chadwick, Naomi Dahl and Andrew Quam; a brother, Russ (Kathleen) Dahl; a sister, Shirley Berry; brothers-in-law, David (Carla) Peck, Steven (Sheila) Peck and Norman (Sue) Peck; a sister-in-law, Peg (Scott) Peck Chapman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Funeral services will be held at the MARSHALL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 318 William St., Marshall on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow in the Kroghville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. The family would like to thank the staff in the UW Hospital Neuro Surgery and ICU as well as at Agrace HospiceCare for their compassionate care. A big THANK YOU to Rollies Family in Brown for all they have done during this difficult time.
