Roger William Beck

JANESVILLE - Roger William Beck, born August 13, 1950 in Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on July 3, 2017 at his home in Janesville, surrounded by his family. Roger leaves behind his best friend and love of his life, Julaine (Traxler) and daughter Randalyn (Dennis) Des Lauries; two amazing grandchildren Logan and Conner; as well as beloved sisters: Suzanne, Lillian and Jeanette, and many friends. Roger now joins his parents, Joseph and Dorothy (Knueppel) Beck and his brother Joe to watch down over us all. Roger was a very proud and patriotic man who served our country from 1972-1976 in the US Navy. He was a West Coast sailor, serving aboard the USS Kiska, from her commissioning in 1972, as a Machinist Mate Class Petty Officer. Roger also served within the Wisconsin National Guard for five years and the US Naval Reserves for thirteen years. He retired as SK1 Storekeeper First Class. Roger was very active within his community. He enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Mary's, and at the senior center was a member of the Troubadour group; as well as acting in many plays throughout his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Commander of his local VFW. Roger also enjoyed bowling, both playing and coaching; photography, magic, coaching Little League and of course the Packers and Brewers. Above all, spending time with his family gave him the most joy. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Nativity of Mary Church, 313 E. Wall St. Janesville. A Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday, at 10:00 am at the church.
