Robert L Wood

Robert L. Wood, age 88, of Janesville, WI passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Heartwarming House in Milton, WI. He was born December 21, 1927 in Roseville, IL, the son of Lester and Mabelle (Miller) Wood. He was a graduate of Roseville High School. Bob married Elizabeth (Betty) Downes in October of 1947. Bob was associated with the automotive industry from the age of 19, first as co-owner of a GM dealership with his father Lester in Roseville and then, in sales and service for International Harvester and American Motors. In February of 1973, Bob married Marlys Baumgart (Borgen). Bob and Marlys owned and operated the Marshfield NAPA auto parts store for ten years after spending time in Monroe and Shawano, Wisconsin. They moved to Janesville in 2003 to be close to family. Bob brought joy wherever his journeys led him with family and friends, both old and new. He never let the conversation lag. He taught us how to overcome the obstacles of our limitations with his positive attitude and guiding spirit. To know and love him was a blessing. Robert is survived by his children; Dawn Olson of Madison, WI, Lester (Judy) Wood of Watertown, WI, Letha (Tom) Dernlan of Manitowoc, WI, and also his first wife, Betty Wood. He is further survived by five grandchildren; Chris (Michelle) Olson, David (Jamie) Wood, Kristin (Lee) Willis, Geoff (Stacy) Wood, and Amy (Mike) Allen; and five great grandchildren; Kaida Wood, Jonathan Willis, Jeremiah Wood, Charlotte and Alaric Allen. In addition to his parents and step-mother Ida Wood, he was preceded in death by his wife Marlys and son in law Chris Olson in 2014. Private family services will be held at a later date.
