COTTAGE GROVE / MARSHALL - Robert C. Devine, age 28, died Sunday, June 14, 2015, as the result of a motorcycle accident. Robert attended Monona Grove High School. He was a self-taught diesel mechanic, specializing in Dodge Cummins engines, master welder, electrician, metal fabricator, and heavy equipment operator. He had previously worked at Badger Utility, Diesel Specialists and at the time of his death, Token Creek Farms, as well as his own business Devine Welding. He had his CDL and could drive and repair anything with wheels and a motor. If it didn't have a motor he would find one and put one in it. He worked for Token Creek farms as a "delegator" and "jack of all trades". His boss and close friend, Josh Miller, states: "it will take at least 10 good men to replace him". At the time of his death he was working on his 1986 Chevy K30 4-speed truck with his close friend, Michael Clapper. Additionally he was restoring a 1969 Dodge Coronet. Robert's many interests besides mechanics included: guns, target shooting, spending time with his dog, planning new projects for his home, horseback riding with his sister and Christmas tree hunting with his family at Roger Palmer's. He loved spending time with his friends and family doing any and all of the above. His great passion in life since he was 8 years old was motorcycles: repairing, building and riding with the wind in his face. He is survived by his parents, Charles and Betty Devine; sisters, Carrie Devine and Kristine(Chris) Wells; niece, Shyloh Opalecky; his dog, Chloe; many aunts, uncles and cousins; life-long friend, Aaron Hastings, aka "well-diggers son"; and many many friends, too numerous to name. A Celebration of Roberts Life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015, beginning at 12 noon and lasting through the evening at 4052 Hwy 19 in Deforest. Food and beverages provided by Josh Miller, Token Creek Farms. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Charles and Betty Devine for the establishment of a diesel mechanic scholarship fund. Robert's family is unable to adequately express their gratitude and appreciation for the overwhelming outpouring of support and love from his many friends. A special thank you to Token Creek Farms (Josh Miller), Diesel Specialists (Kurt Clapper) and Larry's Tires (Michael Clapper) and Aaron Hastings. His passion and love of life will be truly missed by all who knew him. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may god hold you in the palm of His hand.
