Richard James Hazard

MADISON Richard James Hazard, age 74, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016. He was born in Madison on March 1 1942, the son of the late Donovan and Mary (Bethel) Hazard. He married Barbara Arendsee on August 10, 1964. Richard was a lifelong roofer in the Madison area. He was a proud hand nailer who refused to use an air-gun to apply shingles. He enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles, playing cards, telling jokes and the company of his family. Richard is survived by his daughters, Denise (John) Spooner and Christina (Shane) Springen; step-son, Jesse Botello; 10 grandchildren, Kyria Spooner, Mary (Dylan) Sopher, Rebecca (Richard) Hoy, Rachel Spooner, Charles Spooner, Aubrey Botello, Eric Springen, Faith Springen, Sarah Springen and Tiffany Massia; four great-grandchildren, Chayan Spooner, Genevieve Springen, Emma Lou Springen and Malakai Stokes; and two brothers, Forest and William Hazard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; an infant daughter, Susan Hazard; his parents; and an infant brother David. Graveside services will take place at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. The family would like to thank Home Health United and Agrace HospiceCare for everything they were able to do for Richard and his family.
