Rebecca D. Nilles

FITCHBURG – Rebecca Dawn Nilles passed away on Saturday October 1, 2022. Rebecca was born in Madison Wis., on January 28, 1960, to Clyde and Gwendolyn Elvord, and grew up with a sister and two brothers.

She married her longtime friend, Daniel Nilles, on May 10, 1992, that friendship continued to grow through the 30 years they had together. Rebecca and Dan happily welcomed their son, Carter Nilles, to their family in 1996.

Rebecca loved Wisconsin's fall weather, tailgating and going to football games with friends. She also loved to travel, and especially listening to music, as well as going to concerts.

Rebecca was someone that family and friends found easy to talk to and share their feelings with. She always had the time to listen and would show others kindness, love and attention.

She had a special relationship with her close friends and her “Girls” who she could laugh with, cry with, and have the support to help her move forward every day.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Gwendolyn.

She is survived by husband, Daniel; son, Carter; brothers, Michael and Paul; and sister, Shelly. She was also happy to have shared in the lives of her nieces and nephews, Brandy, Kenan, Jadon, Savannah, Tyler, Zachary, Alex, Aja, Adrienne, Mikaela, Austin and Conner; and her great-nieces and great-nephew, Cheyenne, Sarai, Isabella, Keller, and Josiah, who knew her as “pancake”.

She had a strong scripturally based faith in a better hope for the future, which was given to her by her parents and then later she came to appreciate even more. And Rebecca loved sharing those promises with others she met. Job 14:14,15 Isaiah 46:4.

Rebecca’s humor, wit and friendship will be greatly missed, she loved the expression “Focus on the Hello’s and not the Goodbyes”.

A virtual visitation and picture presentation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, starting at 12:30 p.m. followed by a short memorial discourse at 1 p.m. An in-person visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fitchburg Community Center, 5510 Lacy Rd., Fitchburg.
