MADISON - Phyllis D. Sticha, born in Linden, WI on Oct. 21, 1929, the last of seven children made her journey home on July 27, 2014. Phyllis graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1947. After graduating from Milwaukee Business Institute, she moved to Madison and worked at USAFI. She had four children with James Sticha. Phyllis also worked at First United Methodist Church, St. Stephens Church, various Dane County offices and retired from Dane County Human Services. Phyllis loved to dance and had three rock bands call her basement home. She supported live music, theater and volunteered for many years at RSVP, Senior Center, Womens Health, Labor Temple, Theater Bus, Madison Childrens Theater and her favorites were at Verona and Schenk grade schools. She made the best apple pie and sewed many of her kids outfits. Her calligraphy has graced many cards, invitations and certificates along with her poetry. Phyllis was preceded in death by two brothers, five brothers-in-law, three sisters, four sisters-in-law, two nieces, three nephews and two great-nephews. She is survived by her children Kathleen, Dale (Deb), James and John as well as her three grandchildren Tristan, Genavieve and Graham; sister, Jerry (Donald) Kobbervig, 15 nieces, 10 nephews, 14 great nieces, 15 great nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. Phyllis wanted to thank all her relatives, good friends and neighbors, doctors (and you know who you are), and Agrace Hospice for all the loving care they provided. A Celebration of Phylliss life will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, where Phyllis had been a member for over 55 years. Visitation for family and friends will start at 10 a.m. with the Celebration Service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to immediately follow.
