Peg Kastor

JANESVILLE - Peg Kastor (Etta Margaret) entered into eternal life on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at age 97. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She was a lifelong Christian who believed in the sanctity of every human life. Peg had a beautiful voice and played the piano and organ. She was also an active Republican, sports fan, avid crafter and bridge player. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia, on March 16, 1915, daughter of Chapman and Helen Watts. She grew up in Huntington and Portsmouth, Ohio, graduating from Portsmouth High School. She married L.S. Kastor (Bo) on January 29, 1938, and they had two children, son John of Janesville, Wisconsin, and daughter Judy Kastor Gerken, now deceased. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Watts Glockner of Columbus, Ohio; preceded in death by her brother William Watts. She is also survived by daughters-in-law Linda S. Kastor, and Kay Kastor, both of Janesville, and several grandchildren: Helen Gerken Jones of Waunakee, Wisconsin; Fred Gerken of Grove City, Ohio; Sandi Kastor Haddox and Paige Kastor Hubal, both of Bloomington, Illinois; Stephanie Kastor, Erica Kastor Mitchell, Ashley Kastor, and Alex Kastor, all of Janesville, Wisconsin. Peg also has ten great grandchildren. She was a dear aunt to Peggy Glockner Hartshorn, Susan Glockner Shonk, and William Glockner, all of Ohio, and Sally Glockner Metzger of Texas. She lived for many years in Ohio (Cleveland and Lancaster areas) and worked for the Republican Party. She moved to Wisconsin eight years ago to be close to her son, John. She loved the theater and music and served for many years as an usher at the Ohio Theater in Columbus, Ohio. She also volunteered for Heartbeat International, a pro-life ministry, and later supported Pregnancy Helpline in Janesville. She was an outstanding bridge player, and was part of a bridge club in Waunakee and one in Sun Prairie, until age 95. Peg was an Ohio State football fan, and she followed the Green Bay Packers. She loved to cook and sew and was always busy with a craft. She lived her life for her family. There will be a grave side service at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Janesville, conducted by Pastor Michael Jackson, of New Life Assembly of God, where Peg was a member, on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. There will be a celebration of her life, after the service, at the New Life Assembly of God.
