MADISON - Patricia J. Tortorice, age 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 at St. Marys Hospital. She was born June 24, 1918 in Madison, the daughter of Steven and Rosalie (Messina) DiMaggio. Patricia grew up in St. Paul, before moving to Madison where she met and married Joseph Tortorice on Oct. 24, 1942. They started their family in the Greenbush, where they had many close family and friends. Patricia dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she helped when needed. Patricia will be fondly remembered for her strong faith, devotion to prayer, and love of her family. For the past several years she greatly enjoyed living at Avalon Senior Care, making many friends and acquaintances while engaging in their activities. Patricia’s family wishes to thank Avalon Senior Care staff for their exceptional loving care and kindness towards Patricia. She is survived by her son, Steven (Marsha) Tortorice, of Sun Prairie; one daughter in law Joni (Charles) Tortorice, of Madison; grandchildren, Michael(Heather), Maria (Austin Sanderson), and Gina (Pat Hills-Meyer) Tortorice, one great grandaughter, Brooklyn Hope Tortorice, all of Madison; a sister, Jenny (Pete) Castagna, of Madison; three brothers, Alfonse (Joyce) DiMaggio, of Madison; Joseph (Audrey) DiMaggio, Oregon, and Samuel (Beverly) DiMaggio, of Madison; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charles, two sisters, Vivian, and little Mary, her husband, Joseph, and her beloved son, Charles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline Highway, Madison, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2006. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established in memory of Patricia. We will always remember Patricia’s strong faith and gentle kindness. We wish her eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon her.
