MADISON - Oliver (Ollie) Hantak, age 94, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at the Agrace HospiceCare Center in Madison. He was born October 4 1920 in St. Louis Missouri, the son of Joseph and Viola (Neuman) Hantak. The family moved to Wisconsin and lived in Thiensville a short time when Ollie was four years old. The following years they lived in Milwaukee. Ollie graduated from Milwaukee Tech High School in 1938. In 1941 he joined the U.S. Army/Air Force and proudly served in numerous locations overseas including Central Burma China, in the Western Pacific during World War II. Upon being honorably discharged, Ollie was awarded several medals including: the Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Battle Stars, five Overseas Service bars, and a Service Stripe. After the war he returned home and completed a 5 year apprenticeship, becoming a journeyman lithographer. On June 26, 1946 Ollie married Marie Marcouiller of Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee until they moved to Thiensville in 1952. Ollie always remembered the small town. There they raised their two children; Dottie and Greg. Ollie enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish, golf and bowl. Ollie is survived by his children Dottie (Tom) Krull and Greg (Mary) Hantak, grandchildren Denis (Laura Lato) Krull, Debbie (Pat) Bremmer, Tim (Kristin) Krull, Sherry (Adam) Kurzynski, and Laura (Chris) Blad. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Evan and Anna Krull, Alexa and Ben Bremmer, Brady and Kaden Krull, and Peter Kurzynski, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by Marie, his wife of 49 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2015 Parmenter St., Middleton on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:15 a.m. until the time of Mass. Private entombment with military honors will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon. In Ollies last years, his self-appointed mission was to make people around him laugh and be happy.
