MADISON - Norman A. Johnson, age 90, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013. Norm was born on Sept. 21, 1923, in Racine, graduating from Washington Park High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1943, and served as a pilot during World War II. After the war, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin, earning a bachelor of business administration degree. He opened and operated Lettercraft Press, a printing company, from 1962 until his retirement in 1996. Norm was a longtime member of Blackhawk Country Club and Sertoma Club of Madison. His favorite place to recreate was the family second home on Dam Lake in Eagle River. There he spent many weekends with family and friends boating, swimming and fishing. He also was an avid hunter and enjoyed attending his alma mater's football and basketball games. Norm is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary; son, John (Connie) Johnson of Elkhorn, Wis.; daughter, Becky (Lori Elkins) Johnson of Bend, Ore.; along with grandchildren, Jeff, Samantha, Hannah, and Heidi. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; a brother; and his son, Thomas. A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 326 S. Segoe Road, Madison. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established in memory of Norman.
