Norbert V. Plewke

MADISON Norbert "Bert" V. Plewke went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, after losing his year-long battle with cancer. He was born Sep. 2, 1929, the son of Norbert and Lillian (Geier) Plewke. He married Joyce Galbraith on Jan. 17, 1951, and he left for military service Jan. 23, 1951. He served as a second lieutenant in the Korean War and was employed by Madison Gas and Electric Co. for 39 years. Bert was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce; his daughter, Pamela (Alan) Lopez; son, Larry Plewke; grandchildren, Ryan (Audrey) Plewke, Aaron Plewke, Lauren and Jessee Lopez, and Christa Plewke; great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Avery Plewke, Damian and Devanii Soto, all of Florida; sisters, Marlene (Duane) Ballentine, Vicky Denzer, all of Madison, and Bonnie (Lee) Rentmeester of Rhinelander; in-laws, Joann (Laudell) Culver, Bill (Marolyn) Galbraith and Lola (Bruce) Gard; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and his Bichon, Romeo II. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jason Plewke; stepfather, Hugo Maki; and brother-in-law, Faye Denzer. Bert was a life-time member of the Madison Elks Lodge 410 and the N.R.A., and a proud member of the V.F.W. Post No.8483. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. The family would like to extend special thanks for the exceptional care provided during his time of need by Kris and Darlene of Home Health United. A memorial service will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1021 Spaight St., Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, with visitation at 10 a.m. and a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name by the family. All Faiths Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. A lthough we miss him terribly, we are happy that he is with our Lord and free of pain.
