Nancy passed away Monday, December 17, 2007 at the HospiceCare Center. She is survived by her father, Clyde, and 5 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita. She will be sorely missed by her many friends. Nancy grew up in Rockford,Ill. and became involved in Girl Scouts there. She was a troop leader in Byron and worked as a staff member at Medill McCormick GS Camp. In 1978, Nancy moved to the Madison area and became involved in the Girl Scouts of Black Hawk Council. She was a resident camp counselor at Camp Black Hawk for years, starting in 1979. She also started attending Women’s Week in 1979. The women at Women’s Week became family to her and she cherished their friendships. She was co-unit leader of the Menomonee Unit and was known for her treks to the Hermit’s House that she led every year she attended. Her last year at camp was 2006. Nancy held many jobs in a variety of agencies, her last one being at the YWCA on the square in Madison where she found great support. Nancy was a nature lover and would love for her friends to remember her while enjoying nature. The memorial service for Nancy will be held at 10 a.m. on January 19, 2008 at the Sherman Avenue Methodist Church, 3705 N Sherman Ave. with Rev. Suni Caylor officiating. ‘till we meet again…. If we all said a prayer for each other every day, what a wonderful world this would be. I’d ask God to bless and keep you every day knowing you say the same prayer for me.
