Minerva O Lea

COTTAGE GROVE – Minerva Lea, age 87, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born Dec. 26, 1923 in the town of Christiana, the daughter of Oscar and Marie (Swemby) Lea. She worked for Kipp, Rayovac, and later retired from Ohio Medical (Omeida) in Madison. She remained on the family farm for over 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, planting many vegetables and flowers over the years. She also made many stuffed animals for family and friends. Minerva is survived by five brothers, Tester , Lloyd, Stanley (Pat), Donald and Glenn (Elnore); very special friends, Jan and Bill Sheppard; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Marvin and Arnold; and her son Robert. The family wishes to thank the Oncology Dept at Meriter Hospital as well as the staff at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, for the special care given to Minerva. Funeral services will be held at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 6 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Minerva’s name to HospiceCare, Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy., Madison, WI 53711 or a charity of your choice.
