MADISON Michael J. Cruise, age 67, passed away on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sept. 10, 1950, the son of Woodrow and Amanda (Honkomp) Cruise. Following high school at Madison La Follette, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he proudly served from 1968 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. He married Catherine M. Lea on July 12, 1998. Mike was a gifted woodworker. He was a kind and generous person, who would do anything for anyone. Mike was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Mike is survived by his wife, Cathy; a daughter, Dawn (Martin) Verhagen; grandson, Alex; granddaughter, Ana; sisters, Kay (Bob) Kuse-Henricks and Sharon (Dale) Schuster; brothers-in-law, Marc (Nancy) Lea and Jim (Amy) Lea; sister-in-law, Ann Welsh; father-in-law, Glenn (El) Lea; good friend, Johnny Parisi; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob (Kay) Cruise and Joseph Cruise; sisters, Carol Koppes-Kubina and Kathryn Cruise; sister-in-law, Susan Lea; and brother-in-law, Steve Lea. Funeral services with military honors will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare and the wonderful staff at the Madison Veterans Hospital, who helped Mike have a peaceful journey home.
