MADISON Michael J Ales, age 93 of Madison, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Michael was born on Jan. 24, 1922 in Madison, the son of Joseph and Maria (Mazzara) Ales. He graduated from Madison West High School in 1940. Michael served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked at CW Transport until he retired in 1984. He was united in marriage to Joan (Schiewe) Ales on Jan. 18, 1966 in Rockford, IL. She preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 2006. Michael was a loving and kind father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his coffee gatherings at McDonalds, playing Euchre on Saturday evenings winning his final game on his 93rd birthday with a lone hand. He attended many estate sales and flea markets purchasing and fixing numerous clocks and antiques. If you ever needed anything you could count on dad to find it. Michael is survived by his children, Melinda (Alan) Monroe, McFarland, and Richard Ales, Edgerton; grandchildren, Anthony, Aaron (Amanda), and Andrew Monroe, Sydney Ales, and Haley Stenseth; great-grandchildren; Alexander, Sam, and Liam Monroe, Lilian and Kylee ; a sister, Mayme Frisella and sister-in-law Naomi Ales and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Maria; brothers, Pietro, Peter, Paul, Russell, and Philip; and sisters, Girolama and Beatrice. A memorial service celebrating Michael's life will be held at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4001 Mandrake Rd., Madison, on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Badger Honor Flight, Inc. in memory of Michael Ales. We would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital especially Dr. Nick Haun and Dr. Boujelbane, Agrace Hospice Care and BrightStar for the loving and compassionate care he received.
