CASSVILLE, WIS. – Michael E. Kolkovich, age 64, passed away comfortably at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wis. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 following a six year battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 1, 1949 in Crystal Lake, Ill., the son of Clarence and Edwina (Brown) Kolkovich. Michael served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1967 – 1969, stationed in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. He received several awards and medals, including the Purple Heart, before being honorably discharged. He is survived by seven children: Tanya Hamrick, Kimberly Kolkovich, Stacey Kolkovich, Derek (Cheryl) Kolkovich, Michael (Melissa) Kolkovich, Lee (Tricia Eikland) Kolkovich and Jennifer Kolkovich; 15 grandchildren; brothers, Mark (Lisa) Kolkovich and Martin Kolkovich; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Matthew Kolkovich. Private family services will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff and friends at the VA Hospital for the exceptional care and love provided to Michael during his stay.
