Michael A. Joyce

MADISON Michael A. Mick Joyce, age 66, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at the Agrace HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, Wis. He was born Aug. 9, 1950 in Huron, South Dakota, the son of Michael and Mary Joyce. Mick was born with cerebral palsy and fooled everyone, especially the doctors. After high school, he studied creative writing and political science at Southwest Minnesota State University. Later he moved to Madison and obtained two degrees at UW-Madison. He wrote many grants, manuals, handbooks and newsletters for the disabled and handicapped. Mick is survived by his sister, Kay (Jim) Foy, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, LaVay Netsell and Sharol Vrudny. A private gathering for immediate family and personal care assistants will be held at a later date.
