Merlin H. Dorman

February 4, 1950 — May 23, 2021

ADAMS/WINDSOR, WIS. - Merlin H. Dorman, age 71, of Adams, Wis., and formerly of Windsor, Wis., passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021. He was born on Feb. 4, 1950, the son of Harold and Lucille (Pribbenow) Dorman. The second of seven children, he grew up on the family farm which was later sold to ABS. Later in life, he met the love of his life Katherine Busse and they married on April 10, 1990.  After retirement, they moved to Adams, Wis. to live the quiet life with nature surrounding them. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and brothers and passed that passion to his son; he was always quick to remind a friend of which fish would be biting based on the local weather or season. After attending DeForest High School, he went to work at Oscar Mayer in Madison for 30 years, taking an early retirement at age 48. Not one to sit still, he soon went back to work finally enjoying full retirement at age 67. Living most of his life in Windsor, he was active in the community, serving on Windsor’s water board. Enjoying retirement in Adams, he helped push for the ability to use existing paved roads as ATV/UTV routes and enjoyed seeing the wildlife on his own land. His passion to help others created a deep friendship with two local Amish families. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathy; his son, Robert (Carrie) Dorman;  daughters, Amy (Darren) McCutchin and Kerrie McCutchin-Paetzke; grandchildren, Halley, Hunter, Kaden, Della, Evan, and Emma; and great-grandson, Vance; brothers, John (Pam) Dorman and Brian (Kris) Dorman; sisters, Joanie (Gary) Birkholz and Judy (Dave) Knutson; brother-in-law, Billy (Sue) Busse; sisters-in-law, Shirley Smithchamp, Diana (Bill) Olmstead, and Debbie (Chris) Combs; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lucille; his sisters, Claudia “Cookie” Grob and Sandra Tolzmann; and his niece, Jennifer Pobjoy. He could make a friend out of someone he just met and will be deeply missed by many people, too many to name, but they will know in their hearts who they are.  We’d like to recognize John and Pam for all they have done. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to South Adams County ATV, P.O. Box 396, Oxford, WI 53952 or visit the local Amish bakery stand in Westfield and ask for the Merlin special. All Faiths Funeral & Cremation Services of Madison is assisting the family.
