Melford C. Burkeland

Windsor - Melford C. Burkeland, age 73, passed away suddenly Friday, May 14, 2010 at his home of natural causes. He was born May 17, 1936 in Madison, WI the son of Marvin and Cordelia (Strander) Burkeland. At the age of seventeen he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Korean War. Upon being discharged he married Grace Mickelson on August 20, 1956 in Madison, WI. He worked for Oscar Mayer’s for forty three years before retiring in 1999. Melford will be fondly remembered for his love of golf, fishing and spending time at his home in Florida. Melford is survived by his wife Grace Burkeland, of Windsor, WI;his mother Cordelia Burkeland of McFarland, WI; his children Richard (Theresa) Burkeland of Sun Prairie, WI; Melford (Wendy) Burkeland of Sun Prairie, WI; one sister Marilyn (Norm) Budzizis, of McFarland, WI; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and one sister Karen Sherman. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the All Faiths Funeral Chapel 4058 Lien Rd. Madison. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established in memory of Melford
