Melba M. Wolfert

ELROY/SHEBOYGAN – Melba M. Wolfert, age 98, a resident of Heritage Manor, Elroy, Wis. since May 1990, died December 3, 2005, after a massive stroke. She was born March 13, 1907 in Charles City, Iowa the daughter of the late Irving and Mary (Witter) Hirsch. After spending time in Wyoming, she returned and graduated from Charles City High School in 1924. In 1925, she moved to Sheboygan, and worked for the Mead Public Library for 11 years, until marrying Thomas W. Wolfert of Sheboygan Falls on June 17, 1936. They built their home at 912 N. 37th St., where they lived for nearly 50 years. Melba is survived by a son, David Wolfert, of Scottsdale, Ariz., a daughter, Donna (David) Biel of La Valle, Wis., five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. Her sister Beulah DeMars passed away Feb. 15, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her brother, Kenneth; a niece, Helen; a nephew, Richard; and other relatives and friends. Due to illness in the family, final arrangements were postponed indefinitely. A family celebration of Melba’s life will be held at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006.
