Mary Lou Rismeyer

FITCHBURG - Mary Lou Rismeyer (nee, Herlitz), age 68, of Fitchburg passed away on October 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Fort Atkinson, Wis., on November 1, 1955, the daughter of Don and Dorothy Herlitz. She married Larry Rismeyer on October 23, 1982, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison.

Mary graduated from MATC with an associate’s degree. She was a lifelong learner and was dedicated to serving her TOPS, Alpha-1 and recovery groups. Mary loved the library, creating arts and crafts, and spending time with family.

Mary is survived by daughters, Sari Rismeyer and Michelle (Thomas) Jerard; her grandchildren, Lily, Ellie, Jack, Hope, Everly, and Alden; brother, Thomas Clayton, Sr.; and sister, Debbie Clayton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Dorothy Herlitz; siblings, Barb Clayton and Don Herlitz, Jr.; and her husband, Larry Rismeyer.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A private family burial of Larry and Mary Rismeyer will take place in the future.
