MADISON - Mary E. Miller (Hawkins), 72, passed away at her home in Madison, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. She was born in Madison on May 10, 1950, the daughter of Byron and Mary (Howard) Hawkins.
When she was young, her family moved to Eau Claire, Wis., where she attended Eau Claire Memorial High School and met Michael “Mike” Johnson, her first husband and father of her two children. Mary and her children moved back to Madison, where she later met and married Richard “Rick” Miller. Mary supported such organizations as St. Judes, Shriners, and the Gary Sinise Foundation, which provides aid to veterans and their families.
Mary loved to read and dine out. She also loved to travel. She and Rick went on many memorable trips together. Family cruises were likewise immensely enjoyed.
Mary will be missed by her husband, Rick; her children, Jeff Johnson, Michelle (John) Laisi, and Jesse (Joanna) Miller; brothers, Jim (Cynthia) Hawkins, Tim Hawkins, Chuck (Shari) Hawkins, and Byron (Denia) Hawkins; sister, Theresa (Manuel) Hagmann-Arriaga; sister-in-law, Sheri Rodriguez; grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole (Kyle), Jayden, Brianna, and Jasmin; great-grandchild, Liam; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her mother; father; brother-in-law, Jim Hagmann; and brother, Santos Rodriguez.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with the memorial service starting at noon. A luncheon at the church will follow the service until 3 p.m.
