Marlys J. Wood of Janesville, WI passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville. She was born July 29, 1937 in Barron,WI, the daughter of Otto and Marie (Bartlett) Borgen. She was a 1956 graduate of Barron High School. Marlys married Robert Wood, February 17, 1973 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. Marlys and Bob owned and operated the Marshfield NAPA auto parts store for ten years. She was a talented seamstress creating custom bridal wear and clothing as well as beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed needlework (knitting and crocheting), ceramics, and reading. Many special feline friends graced her life including her favorites Sugar and Spice. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Marlys is survived by her husband, Robert and daughter Dawn Olson of Janesville, step son Lester (Judy) Wood of Watertown, and step daughter Letha (Tom) Dernlan of Manitowoc, WI. ; five grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Olson, David (Jamie) Wood, Kristen (Lee) Willis, Geoff (Stacy) Wood, and Amy (Mike) Allen; three great grandchildren, Kaida Wood, Charlotte and Alaric Allen; sisters, Patricia Cherney, and Isla Sather, and brother Donald (Diane) Borgen, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law Chris Olson, sister, Joyce (Charles) Zappa, and brothers-in-law, Doug Cherney and Richard Sather. Marlys was a devoted and loving wife, loving mother and grandmother. Her caregiving and spirit will be missed by family and friends. Private family services will be held at a later date. Thank you to Dr. Keith Konkol and the Mercy Health System staff for their support of Marlys and her family during her journey.
