MADISON – Marjorie Ann (Larson) Fontana, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 after a long illness. “Marge” was born in Spring Valley, Wis., on Aug. 17, 1926, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Hatch) Larson. She graduated from Spring Valley High School, class of 1944. She then attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and River Falls, obtaining her Master’s Degree in Education. Marge was a loyal and hard worker and was employed at Rayovac, Oscar Mayers, Swiss Colony (where she was an assistant supervisor), Burger King and her favorite, McDonalds. She was an author of children’s books and mystery novels. She was an avid collector. Her McDonald’s collection was featured on the “Live at 5” show with Mark Koehn. She is survived by her sister and loving caretaker, Jean Larson of Madison; a brother, Jerry (Joyce) Larson, of Spring Valley, Wis.; a son, Thomas (Sharon) Fontana, of Madison; grandchildren, John and Ann Fontana, of Minneapolis; and many nieces, nephews, including a special grand-nephew, Easten Larson, of Spring Valley. The family would like to give special thanks to HospiceCare of Madison and Home Health United, whose care enabled Marge to stay at home during her illness. Also many thanks to the friends and neighbors for their help, especially Rose and Larry, John and Janet, and Mary D. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the HOSPICECARE CENTER, 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy., Fitchburg, on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be held in Spring Valley, Wis. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
