Marion J. Heffron

Marion J. Heffron, age 88, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Hazel Findley Country Manor in St. Johns, MI. She was born September 3, 1919 in Eleva, WI, the second child of Albert and Clara (nee Kjentvet) Thompson. She and her siblings were raised on an old fashioned farm in the rolling hills of Central Wisconsin. In November of 1945, she married Anthony “Tony” N. Heffron at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eau Claire, WI. Marion’s greatest gift to the world was that of being a friend and neighbor. She taught her own family that truly “the gift is in the giving” and was helpful in a bounty of ways to her family, Church of the Resurrection faith community, and schools her children attended. She was a den mother, a chaperone and had a teen-age community center right in her own home. She and Tony lived and worked in the Lansing, MI area from 1956 to 1968 before moving to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands where they both worked for Carib Gas. Even while living in an American paradise, their favorite vacation was a fishing week vacation at Moose Horn Lodge, Chapleau, Ontario, Canada. This is where Tony preceded her in death in 1977. Upon returning to the states, Marion made her home near her sister in Kentland, IN and eventually came to Hazel Findlay Country Manor Nursing Facility in St. Johns, MI which tended her with the finest of care until her death. Survivors include two sons: David (Linda) Heffron of Eagle, MI & John (Joan) Heffron of Eaton Rapids, MI; her daughter: Susan (Thomas) Hajec of Newton, NC; four grandchildren: Rob (Christy) Heffron, Robin Heffron, Laura (Carl) Mitchell and Kathleen (Gregory) Warriner; and seven great-grandchildren: Alex Heffron, Katy Heffron, Devon Warriner, Andrew Warriner, Amy Mitchell, W. Scott Kester and Jeffery Allen (Kimi) Kester; two sisters: Adora Hughes of Kentland, IN & Ragnhild (Lawrence) Heath of Eau Claire, WI. Further survived by other relatives & friends. She is preceded by husband; her parents; a sister, Ione Pederson; and two brothers, Arvid & Leroy Thompson. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 12:00 Noon at St. Patrick Catholic Church, corner of Fulton St. and Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, WI. Friends may call, at the church, on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of services. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Hazel Findlay Country Manor, 1101 S. Scott Road, St. Johns, MI 48879.
